Luke 10.30-37

I am not religious, in fact I am anti-religion but as I was loading up my Sour Watermelon from Silk Cloud this afternoon I saw something interesting on Facebook. An Icelandic girlfriend of mine posted “Luke10.30-37″ nothing more. Being the curious soul that I aspire to be I Googled it.

Here is what the Bible says, versus 30-37…

30 Jesus replied, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him and departed, leaving him half dead. 31 Now by chance a priest was going down that road, and when he saw him he passed by on the other side. 32 So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33 But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was, and when he saw him, he had compassion. 34 He went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he set him on his own animal and brought him to an inn and took care of him. 35 And the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, ‘Take care of him, and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back.’ 36 Which of these three, do you think, proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?” 37 He said, “The one who showed him mercy.” And Jesus said to him, “You go, and do likewise.”

I realized right away this was meant to be a reference to the Syrian crisis and what we should be doing if we are a God Fearing people. Although I am not a God Fearer I am a “do the right thing” kind of guy. Do I want Canada and the U.S. to accept thousands of terrorists? OF course I do not. Do I want to help the deserving ? Well, of course, so do you. Ironically it was Paris, France that really shone the light on this issue for most Americans. I say Ironic for one reason. France gave us the Statue of Liberty a a gift. And there is an inscription in the book that Lady Liberty is holding. Do you know what it says? You should, it is the basis of every you believe in if you call yourself an American. And if you are an American then the mother of you mother’s mother was a refugee too. How quickly we forget. So as you sit there drinking your beer, vaping and enjoying your Liberty let me remind you what it says in case you have forgotten,

Your mother’s mother’s mother was a refugee.

It was the good people of America that allowed her refuge.

Act accordingly !
